Midco leases routers for new and current business fiber internet customers. Using a Midco-provided router helps ensure service compatibility and access to equipment that is supported and automatically updated by Midco.

• New customers: Lease or purchase a router as part of your service agreement. A Midco representative will help determine the right solution for your business.
• Current customers: Contact Customer Support, to discuss replacing or upgrading your router, as equipment changes may affect your network setup.

You can also use your own purchased router. Required WAN port speeds:

• 1 Gbps internet: 1 Gb WAN port or higher
• 2 Gbps internet: 2.5 Gb WAN port or higher
• 5 Gbps internet: 5 Gb WAN port or higher

Note: Midco cannot provide technical support or firmware updates for third-party routers. Contact the router manufacturer for support. If you have questions about router compatibility, contact us before making a purchase.

An expert Midco technician will provide advice and guidance on the best placement for all equipment when services are installed in your business. If you are using a third-party router, it’s important to know how to find a good location for the best possible Wi-Fi signal.

The further you’re away from your router, the weaker your signal. This can be even more challenging if your router is in a faraway room, as your building’s size and materials also impact signal strength. 

You can maximize your router’s ability to broadcast a solid, dependable wireless signal by elevating it on a table or stand to keep it off the floor. We recommend you also keep it in the open and not place it behind other electronics. 

If you have a Midco-provided router and want to move it, please contact us, as moving the equipment may impact settings established by the Midco technician during installation.
